While racing GFNY La Vaujany long route, you will conquer Alpe d’Huez twice! After the descent from Vaujany, the 20km climb via Villard Reculas is one of the best kept secret climbs up to Alpe d’Huez. A moderate incline and breathtaking views higher up will make that first ascent a bliss.

After you reach Alpe d’Huez, you will climb an extra 150m to Col de Sarenne, which scratches the 2000-meter mark. Over the next 20km, you descend 1300m back down into the valley from where you get to tackle the classic climb up Alpe d’Huez: 12km of switchback bliss with an average of over 8%. 

The rest of the course traces back the initial 25km: first you descend back down through Villard Reculas, then the final challenge awaits with the climb back up to Vaujany. If you blew your reserves at L’Alpe d’Huez, you’re in trouble here. Be smart and leave something in the tank for that final 5km climb to Vaujany.

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

GFNY La Vaujany medium route may only be 55km long but you still have to tackle over 2000m of climbing and conquer two major climbs: Alpe d’Huez and Vaujany. After the descent from Vaujany, the 20km climb via Villard Reculas is one of the best kept secret climbs up to Alpe d’Huez. From Alpe d’Huez, you descend back down through Villard Reculas, then take on the final challenge awaits with the climb back to Vaujany. 

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the 50 miles medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
