Vaujany

GFNY La Vaujany is hosted in the picturesque French Alps village of Vaujany. Enjoy scenic cycling on the most famous climbs in the world. Vaujany offers accommodation options at all budget levels, restaurants, and outdoor and family activities. Vaujany is extending a warm welcome to GFNY riders and wishes you a great race.

Long Course

After the 30km descent from Vaujany to Sechilienne, Col de la Morte awaits with its 15.1km at 6.7% average and 10% maximum gradient. From the top at km 45 you’ll tackle 30km of descent and undulating terrain before climbing Col d’Ornon. Its first kilometers are tame at 3% but towards the end it reaches 7%. Stay calm at this climb because right after the descent, the biggest challenge of the day awaits: the classic climb up L'Alpe d’Huez.

L’Alpe d’Huez is 12km of switchback bliss with an average gradient of over 8%. When you finally reach the top of the village, you descend back down through Villard Reculas and past Pas de la Confession. Use the descent to relax and refuel to have enough energy for the climb back up to Vaujany. If you blew your reserves at L’Alpe d’Huez, you’re in trouble here. Be smart and leave something in the tank for that final 5km climb to Vaujany with pitches of up to 14%.

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

Medium Course

The GFNY La Vaujany medium route may only be 60.8km long but you still get to tackle mighty Alpe d’Huez and Vaujany. After the descent from Vaujany, you get a nice warm-up through the valley along the Romanche river to Bourg d’Oisan where the infamous climb to L’Alpe d’Huez starts.

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.

Perks included as part of GFNY La Vaujany

THE JERSEY: All riders receive the official GFNY La Vaujany race jersey, which is mandatory attire at the race. The jersey is designed in NYC and Made in Italy.

FINISHER MEDAL: Every GFNY La Vaujany finisher receives a medal, no matter which distance they complete. All finishers also earn a “Finish” towards their 3x2025 GFNY medal or the 10x medal. Go to gfny.com/medals for more information on GFNY’s multi-finisher medals.
